6 Reasons You Need to Update Your Website

  1. It’s not mobile friendly.

Most people design a website without really thinking about what it will look like on a mobile device. Unless your client is sitting down at a desktop computer, it is very likely they will search your site on their mobile device. For this reason, it is very important that you have a site that is responsive, and shows well on any device (smartphone, tablet or desktop computer).

2. It takes too long to load.

With the internet becoming more and more a part of our lives, it is critical that your site load fast. Potential customers don’t want to wait more than a couple seconds for a web page to load, and if it takes longer than that, they will usually leave.

3. It’s difficult to update on your own.

Most people do not want the hassle of updating their website regularly. This may be a good reason to hire someone to do that for you. If you are open to making changes to your website on your own, you need to have an updated site that is user-friendly and easy to navigate.

4. Competitor websites are better.

The last thing you want, is for your competitors to have an advantage over you online. Think of the last time you searched for a service or product online. Wasn’t it easy to gravitate towards the more appealing site? Sometimes even the look of a site can be what builds trust. Don’t let your business be seen as less than just because your website isn’t updated!

5. It’s not easy to find on Google.

We all use Google to search for products and services. When your potential customers are relying on a Google Search to come up with options for them, you need to be on the top (or very close) of that list. You don’t want people to have to search the second or third page of listings just to see you as an option. Even if they did, they would still be more likely to pick one of the top results.

6. It doesn’t reflect your current branding.

If you have made updates to your brand, such as a new logo, colours or pricing - then you definitely want your website to reflect that. Sometimes it’s easy to put aside updating your site, but you need to make sure everything is up to date and works. The last thing you would want is for your email address to be incorrect when that potential client is wanting to reach out.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. If you would like a consultation on your current website, feel free to reach out - we would love to help.
